For the past couple of years I have used Coaching with Collage to help me prepare well for Christmas. I have explored using the question, 'What do I need and want this Christmas?'
One thing I value about Coaching with Collage is the depth that images add to my words and the multiple messages that one image can include. The frosty berries in the image below capture not only my love of being outdoors every day but also my love of beauty. It’s important to me to include beauty in the spaces I create at Christmas, as well as taking time to soak up the beauty in nature. Spending time making, and then making sense of, my collage helps me to prepare well and internalise my intentions.
The collage continues to be a visual reminder throughout the festive period. When I sit down in my favourite quiet corner each morning to savour my coffee, I see the collage and can reflect on how it is going. I spend a couple of minutes asking myself:
What is going well, that I am grateful for?
What do I need to tune back into to make sure I remember?
And, what does this mean for how I approach today?
This doesn't take long, I might simply pause to think for a moment or two and have a general feeling; I might spend a little longer and make a list of gratitude and intentions in my head; and some days I may use a pen and paper if I need to explore a little more - usually this will be when things aren't going so well and I have not been emitting quite the joyful vibes I had intended!

Last year when I took the Christmas decorations down, I added my collage to the top of the box. And I loved finding it last week when I put up my Advent decorations. It makes me so happy to think of pulling another one out each year to look back over my intentions for Christmas's past. What a beautiful record it will be of how I was feeling that year, and what was most important to me as I contemplated spending time with my loved ones.
If this sounds like something you need, please do book your Coaching with Collage session soon. Although I have promoted them as times to explore your intentions and desires for 2025, you are welcome to use the time for whatever matters most to you right now, whether that is Christmas, the new year, or something else entirely. I have 5 slots left before Christmas!
